.... He cleared his desk, by sweeping his homework onto the floor. He put his lamp on, and directed the light onto the middle of his desk. Before starting, he looked back to make sure his door was closed, and then took the box out of his pocket....
.... A blackbird flew into the garden one day,
sat perched on the end of his nose,
which was made from the knob of an old chest of drawers
where the man in the house kept his clothes....
.... I have learnt another trick. It is called retrieving. It’s a sort of game we play in the sitting room. Frosty and Bess don’t do it, so it is just the Boss and me. The Boss keeps an old sheepskin slipper just for this game. She throws it across the room and I fetch it. It’s really good fun. Sometimes when the Boss is too busy to play, I take the slipper out onto the yard; it is getting a bit tatty but it still has a nice sheepy feel to it....
