Teacher and psychotherapist Mathias B. Freese has, for more than thirty years, taught English and social studies in New York’s secondary schools. An analytically trained and insight-oriented psychotherapist, he incorporated his abiding interest in Eastern thought into his life and work, leading workshops on experiential and psycho-spiritual approaches to inner awareness. His work emphasizes creativity, spiritual wisdom, self-awareness, transcendence and meaning. All his work reveals a tragic sense of life. A collection of his short stories will be published in June 2006. Non-fiction articles have appeared in the “New York Times”, “Voices: The Art and Science of Psychotherapy”, and “Publishers Marketing Association Newsletter”. In 2005, “The i Tetralogy”, a historical fiction on the Holocaust, was published to remarkable reviews. In the same year, the Society of Southwestern Authors honored him with a first-place award for personal essay/memoir. |
